You’re here for one of two reasons. Either:

  • You just launched your new website and people keep saying you need to be on Twitter.
  • You have no idea how to use Twitter!

You may be asking yourself:

  1. “What is Twitter?”
Twitter is a social networking service that allows you to send short text messages (140 characters in length), called “tweets”, to your friends, or “followers.”

  2. “Why is everyone on Twitter?”
Twitter allows people to talk with friends and other people they may have never encountered anywhere else. Twitter gives EVERYONE the chance to be social with friends, family and even celebrities!

  3. “Should I be on Twitter?”
    YES, YOU NEED TWITTER!

Go to www.Twitter.com and sign up for an account… I’ll wait here….

Congratulations, you’re on Twitter!

Are you sitting there looking at your Twitter page, wondering why you have no followers?
Are you confused about what you should be “tweeting”?

You’re in luck! In this section we will cover the best way to get followers with quality tweets that are properly “tagged”.

First things first
Know your purpose for being on Twitter.

So you want more followers and you want to increase the “buzz” around your name and/or company?

Most of your followers are not interested in you bragging about how “great you are” or how you “take pride in your work”!

You can and should post informational updates about your industry, tricks and tips that your clients/potential customers may find useful and most importantly updates/specials/deals that your business is currently offering.

By following this basic principle, you will naturally gain more followers and people will start coming to you.  As long as your tweets have good information, people will follow you and share your information.

Don’t be afraid of “putting yourself out there”! Tell the world what you know. Tell them how you do whatever it is that you do! Don’t worry about “copycats” stealing your information and trying to replicate it.

As long as you get it out there first, you will always be the leader.

Share your information freely and business will come to you.

You should NOT use your business account to post about going to the gym or what you had for dinner*. By all means, please be personable, funny and friendly; but posting random junk will turn away most potential lfollowers.

*If you like talking about what you ate today or that guy who cut you off this morning, get a PERSONAL Twitter account.

Now that your tweeting up a storm, you should be “tagging” keywords in your messages with HASTAGS!

What is a “hashtag” you ask?
I’ll tell ya in, “#Hashtags, Your Website And You!”
